Laser Therapy

The common treatments for stubborn toenail fungus (Onychomycosis) have been oral medication and topical cream. However, each treatment has its advantages and disadvantages. The cure rate of oral medication for toenail fungus is approximately 70%, while some patients are worried about its side effects to the liver. Periodic blood test is mandatory for people who take oral medication and it is only recommended for healthy individuals. On the other hand, topical cream has less side effects and works for early-onset infection. However, it is less effective than oral medication since the fungus lives under the nails and it is difficult for the active ingredients to reach the infected area.

In recent years, Laser Therapy for toenail fungus has become more popular. The laser light gradually heats the fungus and promotes the growth of healthy, clear nails. The procedure requires no anesthetics and poses no risk of serious side effects. Unless you are pregnant or have skin cancer, Laser Therapy is a new approach to toenail fungus that puts patients’ safety and comfort first. In our clinic, we use Cutera GenesisPlus laser, the laser machine specifically designed to treat toenail fungus.
