Dr. Mika Hayashi graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed her surgical residency training at St. Vincent’s Midtown Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident and helped oversee the podiatry department. During her residency, Dr. Hayashi performed a wide range of procedures, including bunion and hammertoe correction and fracture fixation.

After completing her training, Dr. Hayashi served as a foot and ankle injury specialist at the Miller Healthcare Institute for Performing Artists—the nation’s first medical center dedicated exclusively to performing artists. There, she successfully treated numerous Broadway performers and dancers using minimally invasive and nonsurgical approaches whenever appropriate. This experience helped shape her holistic, patient-centered philosophy: treating each patient as a whole while considering their lifestyle, activity level, overall health, and long-term quality of life.

In 2008, Dr. Hayashi opened her private practice, MIKA HAYASHI, D.P.M., P.C., specializing in foot and ankle surgery and sports medicine. Since then, she has treated a wide range of patients, including varsity and professional athletes, dancers, and performers. Dr. Hayashi is fluent in Japanese, English, and Spanish, enabling her to communicate with and care for patients from diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Hayashi is also affiliated with NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, currently ranked No. 2 among the nation’s best orthopedic hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. She provides both surgical and nonsurgical care, including PRP therapy, custom orthotics, and guidance regarding nutrition and vitamin intake when appropriate. Her holistic approach focuses not only on relieving symptoms but also on identifying contributing factors, preventing recurrence, and helping each patient remain active and improve their overall quality of life.

In recent years, Dr. Hayashi has contributed to the growing recognition and development of podiatric medicine in Japan. In March 2014, she was invited by the Japanese Society of Foot Care as one of three international guest speakers.

In addition to caring for her patients, Dr. Hayashi is a devoted mother who enjoys cooking, swimming, and skiing.
