Dr. Mika Hayashi Visits Orphanage Nursery in Arusha, Tanzania — Uplifted by the Smiles of Her “Children”
As part of her broader mission to support underprivileged children in Africa, Dr. Mika Hayashi recently visited a privately run orphanage nursery in Arusha, Tanzania. Operated by members of the Meru clan, the nursery provides care and early education to children between 4 and 7 years old, many of whom have no families to return to.
Dr. Hayashi brought monetary donations and Japanese stationery to encourage the children’s interest in education. But more than anything, she was deeply moved by the children’s joy, songs, and radiant energy.
“This kind of moment reminds me that I’m a ‘big mom’ to so many children,” Dr. Hayashi said. “Their smiles give me strength. Knowing I have many children to support—both in Africa and in my own community—energizes me to work harder for my patients and to continue expanding my mission of healing and hope.”
This visit complements Dr. Hayashi’s continued support of children in Kenya and reflects her belief that even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.
